So I’ve been sketching the cartoon’y faces in *gasp* a real paper sketchbook when bored. And thought hey, I wonder what I’d really like better – a digital painting version of this sketch. like I usually do them in Twisted Brush or vector based from Anime Studio (I still need to learn this program properly). Still playing around with both versions but here you go, the results so far:

The original sketch of the face, yeah it’s small. I draw tons of faces all over the page unless I think something is good, then I try a big version on its own, which is rare. Otherwise it’s just lots of small faces, half faces, eyes, lips, whatever… just practice stuff.

The sketch taken into Anime Studio and drawn over using that vector styled graphics program.

The sketch taken into Twisted Brush and redrawn over using digital pencils and paints.

Hearts On The Line

Hearts On The Line

Yeah, it’s random.  Can’t seem to get inspired to try to draw cartoon’y people again… well some chick faces but they all seem to look alike and still struggling with even cartoon’y bodies.  I drew one chick using a reference photo for a full body pose, Brian liked it, as he saw it in my sketchbook.  Somehow though the face didn’t seem right, so I need to redo her someday.  Instead, I seem to like random shapes at the moment.

This started with random squigles, then I decided for some reason — probably because it was all black and red that hearts were needed.  Then for whatever reason the tear drop or blood drops… no clue which they  should be, I initially assumed they were teardrops as they took form,  but then as I did everything in red and they seem to have fallen from the hearts, who knows, could be blood.  Brian looked at it and announced he was trying to figure out what it all means.  I told him nothing it just looked good to me.  I guess some would say it all means something, but if so, don’t ask me to explain my own mind because I’ve no clue.

Made in Anime Studio Pro and Photoshop.

Ok so you remember my 1st animation test right? Basically I stuck my bot drawing in Anime Studio Pro, added their rain, moved the camera around. That was it. Just their pre-formatted stuff with my bot image thrown in.

Well this time I drew the bot, all of the background, and animated his very short little dance, no pre-formatted stuff. It’s short so I looped it. Most of the time went into drawing it. I did it all in the program. I’m used to things like PhotoShop and TwistedBrush where you just draw or paint normally. None of this vector stuff. I tried Illustrator once and didn’t “get it”. So yeah it’s taking some time getting used to that. I know I can draw / paint in TwistedBrush and photoshop and import but feel I should get to know this and how it works sooo… 2nd attempt, as short as first but all mine and my book hasn’t arrived yet so just the in program tutorial and randomly playing with buttons ;)

Animation: Anime Studio pro (their background, rain, etc)
