James Dean – In progress or done if I get too lazy to finish him :P   I am rather lazy lately.  He might be done.  But if he is, I’m kind of ok with that as I think he turned out OK’ish for one night of work.  Then again, it’s James Dean and should be perfect so whatever was I thinking taking him on, eeek!

I’ve actually gotten a lot done on my digital painting, I wasn’t planning to make my idea known and still no one really knows what it is.  I told Bender I have a “top secret” art project.  It’s personal until it’s done. Still Brian got home from work just now, while it was up on my laptop  and announced “that’s interesting compositionally” or something like that, and I think I will take it as a compliment.  Though from his angle with the laptop I’m pretty sure he didn’t see what all it is or he’d probably be scratching his head over it as he did with the hearts and squiggles, though once I explained he’d get it right away.

It might even be done TONIGHT.  MAYBE.

I’ve just put a ton of pressure on myself.  I’ve a painting in my head.  Not random squiggles.  Not a cartoon’y girl or bot or an attempt to draw something or an experiment in what I consider “cheating” using photos to create art.  No, a painting, from my brain… Inspired by something with so much meaning to me.  The pressure I am about to put on myself, knowing I’m not really an artist… Oh my.  But here I go.  It’s a lovely beautiful thoughtful ugh I have no words… It’s an idea I must try.  Even if perfection were to exist, and I somehow knew how to create it, I’d still find ways to claim I hadn’t.  So, trying to get this idea onto the computer screen and be happy with it, is going to be tough.  But I must try.  And I must try to find the way to make it so that I kind of semi sort of like it.  I like the concept.  That’s a start.  I came up up with the idea for a painting — digital painting — with inspiration borrowed from somewhere else, and am HAPPY with that… wow, I must be broken, am not beating myself totally up… yet.  Ready… set…. here I go… Time to start.

Ok so you remember my 1st animation test right? Basically I stuck my bot drawing in Anime Studio Pro, added their rain, moved the camera around. That was it. Just their pre-formatted stuff with my bot image thrown in.

Well this time I drew the bot, all of the background, and animated his very short little dance, no pre-formatted stuff. It’s short so I looped it. Most of the time went into drawing it. I did it all in the program. I’m used to things like PhotoShop and TwistedBrush where you just draw or paint normally. None of this vector stuff. I tried Illustrator once and didn’t “get it”. So yeah it’s taking some time getting used to that. I know I can draw / paint in TwistedBrush and photoshop and import but feel I should get to know this and how it works sooo… 2nd attempt, as short as first but all mine and my book hasn’t arrived yet so just the in program tutorial and randomly playing with buttons ;)

Since I someday want to do something of an Angel… err Engel meeting a Bot I need an Angel, err Engel for that… She seems to be a permanent wip.  Oh and by permanent I mean I started her Saturday :P   I’ve much more done than this, but what fun is showing how much is actually done now when I can post a teaser instead?

Engel teaser - WIP

My friend Mike liked the last one, so I decided to dedicate this one to him when I saw the finished angel engel chick with a less than happy look on her face…. I have to watch Mike a lot so it looked like a look I’d give him ;)    My books on poses came but haven’t had the energy do really get serious about making new art so these still have no bodies, hopefully something better and less silly soon’ish.  But, we know how I slack ;) I’m not posting the pics in this video separately because well they may or not be done. They still seem like works in progress to me, though who knows I may never touch them again.
