Back to my usual cartoon’y girl sketches… sort of. Little different styles, slightly. Mostly stayed offline today due to the storms, but when I did finally get computer online, spent it drawing these. Now sleepy time, so figured I’d post them instead of trying to do any more work on them. And thank goodness the power actually never went off — new Vampire Diaries tonight. Still better safe than sorry, so computer got a break tonight. The world is ending, I swear — California is nothing like normal lately.

Peek-a-boo

She sees you! I’m sure I’ll touch it up more later someday, but eh… for today I was done.

By popular demand — okay, because one person on MySpace asked in a comment so when’s the painting of this picture come out when I changed my picture (he’d liked my self portrait last year) — I bring you self portrait version 2.0. It looks better than the real picture of me that it’s based on! I should have kept editing it to look right, but if I look cuter in it than in the actual picture who am I to edit it more? :P

Self Portrait v. 2.0

I was working on Christmas presents — yes late ones given I’m mailing them (one is done, two almost are — Saturday or Sunday = my self imposed mailing deadline). I had to stop because it was too late to sew given how loud the machine can be. And even if it wasn’t — well I was getting frustrated as my hands hurt, cramped up, and I couldn’t cut or sew anywhere near straight — not that I can normally but it was really bad. Sooo, instead of pissing myself off, I did something else — play with the art program I don’t usually play with: ArtRage. Made this, she’s clearly not done, a work in progress, unless I forget about her ;)

purplehairedfaerie

I was just bored. So… a silly purple haired faerie girl, with no name. Made in Twisted Brush

So I do use my sketchbooks. They’re a mess of course as I mostly just doodle stuff like practice cartoon’y eyes and half faces. Tons of stuff like that, multiple things like that one one page. Often overlapping each other on a page. I’m a freak. But I figured I’d take pics of a few of those things that you can still identify in those messes and post them here.

Just a random cartoon't guy sketch

I could swear I posted this guy before, maybe I just planned to because I had been digitizing him. Maybe I’ll post that wip version too. Just some random BatBoy that also looked kind of Werewolf’y to me. I dunno wtf he is really, I just drew and that’s what he became.

Yeah, here he is. Still in progress though he has been forever, so maybe he’ll never be done, can’t figure out what to do with him.

No, I can’t draw from reference pics yet, obviously. And I should use a ruler or something instead of trying to draw lines on my own ;) But this is based on one of the CA missions. LaPurisma maybe? I forget now.

Really bad sketch based on one of the Missions

This was going to be a faerie but as usual I just used the page to draw all kinds of random eyes, half faces, etc. So this is really all I have of her.

Woah. They’re calling this the biggest art theft in the history of LA. Set of Warhol paintings stolen. On the local LA news they said that just one similar Warhol painting sold for $9 million recently and the collection is “priceless” and really is the kind of thing that you’d never sell and can’t put a price on.

1. Who the hell steals such a thing? It’s not like you can ever do anything with it, not even show it off.
2. How to I develop the kind of talent to paint such paintings?
3. Never mind question #2 because don’t you have to die before they’re ever worth that kind of money?
