Wristcutters - A Love Story

Wristcutters - A Love Story
Wristcutters - A Love Story

Whether religious or not when growing up you probably heard some variation of the story - good people go to a heaven and bad ones go to hell. As you get older they start to warn you that if you have unfinished business, well there's some sort of in between. Limbo. Purgatory. Whatever.

Who has more unfinished business than those who off themselves? In Wristcutters: A Love Story, they get their own limbo of sorts. Zia ends up working and just sort of living his life best he can until he learns that his girlfriend also killed herself. He insists that his newfound friend Eugene take him on the road to find her. They get slightly distracted by an attractive hitchhiker who is looking for the people in charge. Then there's the camp that may or may not have miracles. The cult leader who may or may not be killing himself… again. A black hole in a car. And someone or a few someones may actually find love - yes all because they cut their wrists.

It's quirky, fun, sad. A little of everything. Not quite perfect but still pretty darn good. 4/5 stars
