Mercury Falls

Christine, a struggling writer, pens a story about an end of times cult leader. This gains her the attention of the publisher of a religious magazine. He'd like her to write stories like this full time. Hey, it's a job. Eventually this ticks her off and she all but quits. Can you blame her? How many times could you write about phony baloney cult leaders who obviously don't know when the world will REALLY end? Of course, nothing is ever as simple as just quit your job and escape end of times doomsday mumbo jumbo! No way! Her new assignment puts her smack dab in the middle of real end of times drama. With an angelic occasional sidekick Christine attempts to figure out how to put an end to the plans for the real apocalypse. Not an easy task given that it appears both heaven and hell have agreed to said plan, the paperwork involved is quite complicated, and oh the bureaucracy.

Being new to the Kindle, I quickly realized there were lesser known "Indie authors" I'd never have discovered pre-Kindle. Well, of course I went searching them out, this was the first I found that grabbed my attention. I'm not sorry I downloaded and read it, I'm only sorry it ended so soon. It's both smarter and funnier than most other books I've read recently. I'll be on the lookout for future books by this author for sure. 5/5 stars
